Lab Reports - Conclusions

Today we worked on writing our conclusion page for our lab reports.  The students did a great job of writing like a real scientists and analyzing their results.

MakerSpace

We were working hard today in our MakerSpaces.  Look at all these tinkers and makers!  There were kids coding, building electronic circuits, tinkering with tinker toys, building with Goldie Blox and Legos, and working with Makey Makeys.  Great Job second graders!

Cursive

Today we started our lessons in cursive.  The students were so excited.  We learned how to write a cursive a.  Have your child practice a's at home.  "Curve line up, then rock back round - touch the top and swoop on down."

Today we tried a new website called GoSoapbox.com The students logged in and responded to this question. They could also see other student's responses. Here are their responses.

Students will be responding to a social Q & A today on Gosoapbox.com. Students will click on the link below and type in "vallis" as the access code and then type their name. Then they are able to respond to the question I have asked but also ask their own question about natural resources as well. https://app.gosoapbox.com/

Kahoot!

Today, in math, we tried a new website!  Kahoot.it is an interactive website that posing questions to students and they race to answer the questions using their own device.  The students loved trying out this website today.

Our Valentine's Party

Information book Celebration!

Today we went down to Kindergarten and shared our information books with them.  It was fun listening to the Kindergartners and reading our books to them.  They were so impressed!

Word Work

We are working hard during word work today.  Students are able to sort their words on the interactive board, play word work games on the iPad, and sort their words on their desks.

Fluency Friday

Delta Dental assembly

Today Delta Dental came to our school for a dental assembly.  We met the Tooth Wizard and Plaque Man.  We learned that we should be brushing our teeth 2-3 times a day.

Nonfiction Readers Pause and Think

Today we learned that good nonfiction readers pause and think while they are reading.  They should be asking themselves, "What have I learned so far?"  "What was that part about?"  We also learned that after we question ourselves we should think, "Next I will probably learn something about..."  "The next party will be about...'  We practice this skill with our reading partners today. 

New Groups

Today we moved our desks and are in new groups.  After moving into our new spots, we started brainstorming ideas of new group names.
