Reading Partners

Today we practiced reading with partners. Students practiced sitting side by side, reading and listening to their partner.

For the next four weeks we will have a lesson every Wednesday morning from the NCADA. They are teaching us the four rules of friendship. This week's rule is "Include Others." To celebrate this rule everyone traced their hand, cut it out and then we put our hands all around the rule poster.

Our Second Grade Class

Reading smoothly

Today is reading we learned that it is so important to reread books!! When a student rereads a book they read more smoothly and with expression! Today we read our books to ourselves and then reread our book to our partner to show our smooth voice and expression!

Today we practiced sharing our writing with a partners. Students took turns reading their writing pieces to their partner and discussing their writing.

Brain Breaks

Every morning we take a 2-3 minute break to get some exercise and rejuvenate our brains!! Today we did some yoga stretching and played a game of jumping and dodging.

Reading and writing Stamina

In second grade, we work on increasing our reading and writing stamina. Stamina means staying focused on reading or writing. Our stamina goal is to stay focused a little longer every day. Today in reading we were focused for 11 minutes! Today for writing stamina we were focused for 11 minutes too! Way to go second grade.

Library Monday

Today w had our first library lesson. Every Monday morning we get to go to the library for a lesson and to check out books. We had so much fun learning about the library and our new librarian Mr. Brand.
