Oak Bend Library Field Trip

Book Clubs

Today in reading, we started book clubs!  We discussed book series and students picked what series of book they wanted to read.  Then we all discussed the characters in our books and how they were similar in every book.  It was fun to take on the responsibility of book clubs.

Painted Lady Butterflies

We are studying and observing our butterflies daily.  We have been writing in our Butterfly Journals and noticing all the changing that they are going through.

Sides and Angles

Today in math we discussed sides and angles of our two-dimensional shapes.  We sorted the shapes and counted the sides.  We learned that an angle is where two sides meet.

Sweet O Donuts

Today during our Junior Achievement lesson we learned about defects, innovation, productivity and quality.  The students made donuts to learn more about these new words!  

Leaders

Our class leader today was Bailey!!  Bailey worked the entire time in writing on her poem and also wrote 20 perfect sentences during word work today! Great job Bailey!

Playing with Point of View

Today in writing we talked about point of view.  Students were writing poems and taking on a new point of view.  Look at how great they started their poems!

Fluency Friday

Junior Achievement

Today Mr. Perniciaro came to our classroom to teach us about a community.  The students participated in listening to a fun story about a little girl and finding the perfect job for her.  They acted out certain words that Mr. Perniciaro read.

Acting out character's strong feelings

In our reading lesson today we practiced acting out how the characters in our books were feeling.  Every student shared their acting with their reading partners and some students were brave enough to act out their character's feeling for the whole class to see.

Characters have strong feelings

In Reading today we discussed how characters have strong feelings in books.  We brainstormed some examples of strong feelings.  Then we went into our own books and looked for places that the characters in our books were experiencing a strong feeling.  After we found the examples in our books, we shared our ideas with our reading partners.

Poetry

We are working hard on adding to our poems to make them better!  Check out these great poems written by some of our second graders!
